    What is CO2 Fractional Laser System?

    The carbon dioxide laser (CO2 laser) was one of the earliest gas lasers to be developed (invented by Kumar Patel of Bell Labs in 1964, and is still one of the most useful. Carbon dioxide lasers are the highest-power continuous wave lasers that are currently available. They are also quite efficient: the ratio of output power to pump power can be as large as 20%.

    The CO2 laser produces a beam of infrared light with the principal wavelength bands centering around 9.4 and 10.6 micrometers. With fractional laser resurfacing the laser beam is broken up or fractionated into many small micro beams which are separated so that when they strike the skin surface small areas of the skin between the beams are not hit by the laser and left intact. These small areas of untreated skin promote a much more rapid recovery and healing with less risk of complications. The small areas treated by the fractional micro beams, called micro treatment zones, cause sufficient laser injury to promote new collagen production and resultant facial skin rejuvenation.


    How does it work?

    The angle of radiation of CO2 laser is very small and its energy density is high. Output power density will reach several kilowatts per square cm. CO2 laser surgical system outputs infrared rays which wavelength is 10600nm . Its penetrability is comparative large. Because it can incise focus tissue after focusing, CO2 laser surgical system is also considered as laser scalpel. If beam of laser is enlarged, it is good for the heating-up physical therapy of the deepest tissue.

    During the procedure, only a tiny proportion of the skin receives the laser light. The laser delivers a series of microscopic, closely spaced laser spots to the skin while simultaneously preserving the normal healthy skin.
